Good news.  Camel Press will release the third in the Eve Appel mysteries,  A Sporting Murder, in July of this year.  As a promotional and prepublicity device, Camel will offer through Amazon three short stories about Eve and Madeleine.  The stories focus on the two consignment shop owners before they set up their shop in rural Florida.  One story features their childhood meeting and subsequent capers during adolescence (“The Little Redheaded Girl is my Friend”).  The second story is a tale of Eve’s first visit to rural Florida (“Thieves and Gators Run at the Mention of Her Name”).  A similar version of the last story won the 2009 Mystery Writers of America Florida Chapter Sleuthfest Short Story award.  Its title says it all, “Gator Aid”.  It was the first short story I ever wrote.  My husband and I entered the contest and we both were finalists, but I came out the winner.  I’ve never let him forget it.  I am so mean to that man.
